One example of the 220 banners on display, is from the 73rd Regiment of the New York Volunteers, 2nd Fire Zouaves at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. This banner was used for the dedication of the 73rd Regiment monument in Gettysburg, September 6, 1897. |

Oil painting on canvas signed Joseph H. Johnson Painter, depicts Americus Engine Co.No.6 on Parade at Broadway & Chatham Street in NY City. In the background is St. Paul’s Chapel and the famous Astor House on West side of Broadway, Vesey Street runs between them. The occasion was the 3rd annual parade of the NY FD June 1853. |

Stained glass window once displayed at the top of the Grand Staircase of the original Volunteer Firemen’s Home building built in 1892. Presented to the Home in 1895 by Fountain Fire Co.No.1, Hamilton NY, to immortalize the fame of their 3rd class Button engine “Old Fountain No.1.” |

Leather presentation shield presented by the Volunteer Firemen’s Association of New York City to the Veteran Firemen’s Association of Utica New York August 25th 1894, as a token of esteem for the courteous treatment extended to us in your city on the return from the State Firemen’s Convention at Oswego New York. Most of the old Certificates were lithographs engraved in reverse on a soapstone, such as the one shown. This stone was engraved in 1863 by the A.C. Goodwin Lithograph Co., Albany NY, to print Exemption Certificates for the City of Schenectady Fire Department. |

The Veteran Firemen’s Association of NY City (168 strong), decided to attend the Inauguration of President Cleveland. Upon their arrival in Baltimore, they were guests of the firemen of that city. They were presented a full set of 12 keys of public buildings and parks of the City by Baltimore’s mayor the Hon. F.C. Latrobe on March 3d, 1885. A photo of the keys may be seen in the book “Our Firemen” written by A.E. Costello in 1887 on the History of the NY Fire Departments from 1609-1887. |
