The FASNY Museum of Firefighting strives to be a value-adding member of the community. One of the fundamental ways the Museum honors this obligation is through educational programming. The Museum offers various types of educational programs including virtual learning, after-school programming and field trips.

Guided Group Tours

Guided tours are required for groups consisting of ten or more individuals. Group tours must be scheduled at least 3 weeks in advance. A seasonal picnic area is also available for groups of ten or more, and this area is booked on a first-come, first-serve basis. Interactive Group Tours for Ages 3 and Up

Whether you’re a school group, a senior citizens club, a scouting group, a pre-school or an antique apparatus collectors club, the Museum can offer you a guided tour that will be educational, interactive and fun for your members. Virtual Learning: Fire Safety & Prevention with Firefighter Fran

Join Firefighter Fran for a fun and engaging program featuring sound effects. Firefighter Fran teaches students about fire safety and prevention and takes your class through her hazard house, teaches them about when to dial 9-1-1, when to stop, drop and roll, tools and toys and other fire safety and prevention concepts. Teachers will receive pre and post activities for each student. For grades K-2. Meets NYS Learning Standards.

Virtual Learning: Weird Science with Professor Sparks

Join Professor Sparks in her lab as she and her robot canine companion, Spot 2000, take your class through concepts such as the elements of fire, heat and fuel sources, chemical reactions, and much more. This fast paced program with music and sound effects will be an experience your class will not forget. Teachers will receive pre and post activities for each student. For grades 3 & 4. Meets NYS Learning Standards for Science.

Virtual Learning:
Fiona Flannagan: Purveyor of Fine Firefighting Equipment

Students will travel back in time and meet their hostess, Fiona Flannagan, a young Irish immigrant. Fiona will use her very best sales tactics, including jokes and sound effects, to lead your students through an interactive lesson about simple machines and how they work Using Fiona’s guidance and their budgeting worksheet, the students will make decisions on the purchase of fire equipment for their firehouse. They will learn how each simple machine is used and be able to identify them in everyday objects. This rich, interdisciplinary program will be an experience your students will not soon forget!
