Meet Molly the Museum Dog

Hi! My name is Molly — I am the FASNY Museum of Firefighting’s resident Dalmatian, as well as a trained and certified therapy dog. I’m named after Molly Williams, one of New York State’s very first female firefighters, who served in the early 1800s.

About me: I help keep an eye on things at the Museum, and I love to meet the Museum’s many visitors whenever I have the chance. However, I am not at the Museum everyday: I need days off just like you! I am also a living, breathing and thinking animal, with plenty of personality, so I get lots of “downtime” to limit my stress, which makes me a healthy and very happy girl!

I am out regularly during the weekdays and most special events, but not on demand, so please keep that in mind. If you have your heart set on meeting me, it may happen, or I may be on a rest break if I have been out recently. Regardless, I know you will absolutely love your visit to my Museum, so enjoy!

You can keep up with me and all my adventures on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok!

Do you have any questions you’d like to ask me? If so, feel free to send me an email at fhcontact@fasnyfiremuseum.com or send me a message through any of my socials.

About Dalmatians: Dalmatians and firefighting go together like red lights and sirens — we were chosen by fire companies back in the horse-drawn days because we get along well with horses. Back then, a Dalmatian would run ahead of the horses to clear the way for them on their way to a fire scene. Today, we still serve as elegant, loyal and energetic mascots and community ambassadors for hundreds of fire companies.
